About NAREB

The National Association of Real Estate Brokers, (NAREB), is a Real Estate Professional trade organization. We have local chapters across the country who embrace our ideals and mission of “promoting democracy in housing”. While our name suggests an organization of Real Estate Brokers, it is a professional real estate organization which includes membership from multiple disciplines in the real estate industry. We welcome professionals in all areas of real estate to join us and help promote our mission.

The National Association of Real Estate Brokers, Inc. (NAREB) was founded in Tampa, Florida, in 1947 as an equal opportunity and civil rights advocacy organization for African American real estate professionals, consumers, and communities in America. The purpose of NAREB is to enhance the economic improvement of its members, the community at large, and the minority community which it serves. To unite those engaged in the recognized branches of the real estate industry including brokerage, management, mortgage financing, appraising, land development, home building, and allied fields for the purpose of exerting influence on real estate interests.  Although composed principally of African Americans, the REALTIST© organization embraces all qualified real estate practitioners who are committed to achieving our vision, which is “Democracy in Housing.”

Our national goal is to bring together the nation’s minority professionals in the real estate industry to promote the meaningful exchange of ideas about our business and how best to serve our clientele. We strive to create an environment where creativity flourishes in both the workplace and the marketplace.

NAREB Programs & Initiatives

Advocacy

We will continue to be the voice for both our communities and our members; championing fair housing, equal opportunity, and policies that remove systemic barriers to homeownership. Advocacy means making sure underserved communities are seen, heard, and supported in their pursuit of the American Dream.

Affordability

Our focus is on communities where the median income aligns with the median home price. By highlighting these markets and connecting them with resources and programs, we aim to make the path to homeownership more attainable. Affordability is about turning awareness into action; ensuring families can not only dream of ownership but achieve it.

    Access

Access means opportunity. We are committed to breaking down obstacles that keep communities from homeownership and ensuring our members can access the capital they need to build, grow, and sustain their businesses. Access is the bridge between intention and achievement.
